New airport apron for the French-speaking countries’ summit in Madagascar
For the French-speaking countries’ summit meeting in Madagascar, Colas renewed the apron of Ivato airport in Antananarivo.
In collaboration with the CST Department for Infrastructure Engineering of the Campus for Sciences & Techniques, a non-standard design process was implemented for this work so as to respect the constraints on time, cost and utilization.
The absence of a wearing course was validated solely for the reception of aircraft bringing in delegations for the summit meeting.
Design calculations were based on the use of the treated soils as a sub-grade course.
The 50,000 m² of soil treatment and the application of 14,000 tonnes of 0/14 road-base asphalt with 20/30 bitumen, treated with an adhesion agent, the formulation of which was developed by the Colas Madagascar laboratory, were carried out successfully.
