The French Minister of the Environment, Energy and the Sea, Ms. Ségolène Royal, visits a 1-kilometer Wattway solar road pilot project

Wattway, a Colas innovation that harvests solar energy on the road surface to produce electricity, is now entering a usage assessment phase with the launch of a pilot project in the town of Tourourve in Normandy, France.
Some 2,800 m² of Wattway photovoltaic panels will be installed on a one-kilometer section of Route RD5 between the southern exit of Tourouvre and the intersection with Route N12 at Gué-à-Pont.
This first major project is part of the pilot sites planned for by the French Ministry of the Environment, Energy and the Sea’s energy transition policy.
On Monday, October 24, 2016, Ms. Ségolène Royal, French Minster of the Environment, Energy and the Sea, visited the Tourouvre pilot site, which is scheduled for completion mid-December if the weather allows.
