Colas wins a new reconstruction contract at Los Angeles International Airport

Sully-Miller Contracting Co., Colas’ US subsidiary, has been awarded a €70 million* contract by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), the authority that operates Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), for the complete reconstruction of the westernmost mile of Taxiway A, as well as part of Taxiway F.

Los Angeles International Airport is the 7th busiest airport in the world and the main international gateway to Southern California, with approximately 580,000 aircraft movements in 2025. Taxiway A, primarily used by cargo aircraft, handles more than 2.4 million metric tons of freight each year, making LAX the fifth-largest US airport in terms of cargo volume.

The reconstruction of Taxiway A will be carried out in 2027, while work on Taxiway F is scheduled for early 2028. Located between two active runways, Taxiway F will have to be reconstructed while maintaining air traffic operations, adding a further constraint to an already complex project.

Sully-Miller’s experienced team will work six days a week and up to twenty hours a day to meet the project’s particularly tight schedule, with completion planned ahead of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

This contract extends the longstanding relationship between Los Angeles World Airports and Sully-Miller Contracting Company. The teams are currently working on two other projects awarded in 2025 at Los Angeles International Airport: the LAX Taxiway C Easterly Extension Project and the MATOC South Terminals Taxiway Reconstruction project, worth €31 million and €36 million respectively.

This is the eighth project carried out by Sully-Miller for Los Angeles World Airports over the past seven years, representing more than €350 million in construction contracts since 2019. This latest award confirms Colas’ position in the US transport infrastructure market, particularly in California.

It also illustrates the Group’s expertise in the construction and modernization of airport infrastructure. In recent years, Colas has notably renovated runways at Paris-Orly, Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Nice Côte d’Azur airports, and delivered the third runway at Bangkok Airport.
