Colas has been awarded a contract for the rehabilitation of runway 4 at Paris-Orly airport
Colas, acting as lead contractor for a consortium comprising its subsidiaries Colas France and Tersen, along with Spie Batignolles Valérian, JDC Airports and Cegelec, has been selected by Groupe ADP to carry out the rehabilitation of Runway 4 at Paris-Orly Airport. Work will begin in August 2026 and is expected to last approximately four months.
More than 350 employees will be assigned to renovate 3,350 meters, including runway 4 and its access roads. This major project also includes the refurbishment of seven aircraft taxiways and the reconfiguration of a strategic junction to improve traffic flow and safety. The operation further involves the modernization of air transport infrastructure and the installation of more than 40 kilometers of airport ground lighting and drainage networks.
In line with its environmental commitments and the customer's expectations, Colas will be rolling out several innovative solutions to refurbish one of the two main runways at Paris-Orly airport. By using alternative fuels, low-carbon cement, recycled materials in asphalt mixes and optimized structures to reduce the use of hydraulic binders, carbon emissions will be reduced by 48% in relation to the initial specifications.
In addition, almost 90% of the demolition materials will be recycled, either directly on site or at Tersen's recovery and recycling facilities.
"The renewed confidence of Groupe ADP highlights the value of our teams’ work and expertise. This project, which combines technical performance with environmental responsibility, will modernize the runway, making it more efficient and sustainable: we are proud to be part of this ambitious project", says Thierry Méline, Executive Vice President France & Indian Ocean.
This new contract confirms Colas’ airport infrastructure construction and modernization expertise. In the last few years, the Group has refurbished Runway 3 at Paris-Orly, Runways 1 and 3 at Paris-Charles de Gaulle and the runways at Nice Côte d’Azur and Luxembourg airports. Internationally, Colas has recently completed the third runway at Bangkok and is currently building a taxiway in Los Angeles.
