Colas is completing its acquisition of the Frauenrath Group’s roadconstruction and recycling businesses in Germany
In accordance with a memorandum of understanding signed on March 19, 2026 and following approval of the transaction by the competition authorities, Colas completed the acquisition on May 29, 2026 of the road construction and recycling businesses of the Frauenrath Group, a family-owned company established in Germany since the late 19th century. This transaction is the first road company to be acquired in the country. T
he Frauenrath Group’s construction and recycling operations (road construction, urban development and circular economy) employ around 420 staff across its sites in Heinsberg (North Rhine-Westphalia) and Großröhrsdorf (Saxony) and generate a turnover of approximately 150 million euros (2025).
This latest acquisition follows Colas Rail’s takeover in the summer of 2022 of the Hasselmann Group based in Thuringia, which specializes in the construction of railway tracks and rail infrastructure. The Colas Group can now be fully operational at the heart of Europe in the world’s third-largest economy.
