The Colas Foundation supports the exhibition :

Manoir de Couesme – Ancinnes (Sarthe)
SEPTEMBER 5 TO 28, 2008

From September 5 to 28, 2008 the Manoir de Couesme is organizing an exhibition on the theme of scarecrows. Under the patronage of Jean-Pierre Coffe, “Epouvantails, épreuves d’artistes” will present the works – sculptures, paintings or photos – of about forty artists. Primary school pupils will also be able to take part in a competition for creating scarecrows. The Colas Foundation will be giving away 500 copies of “La Route des épouvantails” (“Scarecrow Road”), the book it published a few years ago, to support the exhibition.

Created and chaired since the early 1990s by Alain Dupont, Chairman & CEO of the Colas Group (the world’s leading road-builder) from 1987 to 2007, the vocation of the Colas Foundation is to promote artistic creation, particularly in the field of pictorial art. Preference is given to paintings as the works produced are intended to be displayed at Group locations worldwide. The Colas Foundation has an original feature in that its corporate sponsorship involves commissioning new works.

Each year the Colas Foundation, with the help of a jury comprising both personalities from the world of art and Group employees, selects about fifteen French and foreign professional artists, and commissions a work on the theme of roads from each of them. Over the years a collection of more than 200 paintings has been built up, providing an invaluable record of the current trends in pictorial art.
