Inauguration of the Tangiers-Casablanca high speed train line in Morocco

On November 15, in the presence of French President Emmanuel Macron, His Majesty Mohammed VI King of Morocco inaugurated Morocco's first high-speed train line, Al Boraq, linking the cities of Tangiers and Casablanca. The Colas Group played a major role in the project, building a 185-km section between Tangiers and Kenitra.
Colas Rail and its subsidiary Colas Rail Morocco in a consortium with Egis Rail won a design-build contract for the high speed line between Tangiers and Kenitra, covering 185 kilometers of double track. The construction work involved track (studies and construction), catenaries and two base camps (studies, supplies and construction). Among the 850 employees who worked for Colas Rail on this project, 95% were recruited locally.
GTR, a Moroccan road subsidiary of Colas, also participated, completing the required earthworks, for a total of 5 million m³ of cut and 2.5 million m³ of fill.
This major project is an important reference for Colas Rail in Morocco, in addition to lines 1 and 2 of the Rabat-Salé tramway and line 1 of the Casablanca tramway.
