Colas secures the contract for the rehabilitation of runway 1 at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport

Colas, through its subsidiaries Colas France and Tersen, has been chosen by the ADP Group for the rehabilitation of runway 1 and its 22 taxiways at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport, in a consortium with Bouygues Energies & Services, Spie Batignolles Valérian, JDC Airports and Iris Conseil. The contract is worth a total of 83 million Euros, of which more than 65 million Euros will be assigned to Colas.1
For the rehabilitation of this 4.8-kilometre runway and its taxiways, more than 350 employees will be mobilized over a 4-month period, starting mid-July 2025.
The work will include the laying of 200,000 tons of asphalt mix, 16,000 m³ of concrete pavement and more than 35 kilometers of airfield lighting and drainage networks.
In line with its environmental commitments and the customer's expectations, Colas will be rolling out several innovative solutions to rehabilitate this historic runway, which opened in 1974. Among these, the use of alternative fuels, the extensive use of recycled materials in asphalt mixes and alternative structures to reduce the use of hydraulic binders will enable to reduce carbon emissions by 45% compared with initial specifications. What's more, almost 90% of demolition materials will be recycled, either directly on site or at the Group's various Valormat recovery and recycling platforms.
"The Colas France teams are proud and grateful for the renewed confidence shown by the ADP Group to carry out this project. This job illustrates our ability to combine technical performance with a commitment to the environment and is part of the modernization of airport infrastructure for a more efficient and sustainable runway", says Thierry Méline, Vice President, France.
This new contract testifies to Colas' expertise and ability in building and modernizing airport infrastructure. Several renovations have been carried out in recent years, including runways 3 at Orly and Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airports, and those at Nice Côte d'Azur and Luxembourg airports. Colas also recently completed the third runway at Bangkok International Airport and is currently building a taxiway at Los Angeles International Airport.
