Colas secures the contract for the Bus Rapid Transit system of the Metropolis of Lyon

Colas (leader), in a consortium with two of its subsidiaries, Perrier and Aximum, has been chosen by SYTRAL Mobilités to build a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line linking Lyon Part-Dieu station to the carrefour des Sept Chemins in Bron, at a cost of 61.6 million Euros, including 52.5 million for Colas.
The 7.7 km line includes 5.8 km of new track and provides for the creation of 16 stations. It will pass through Lyon 3eme, Villeurbanne, Vaulx-en-Velin and Bron. Work will start in mid-October and will take 31 months to complete, involving up to 250 employees.
As part of this contract, Aximum will provide services to place warning signs at the urban worksite. The Colas teams will be pooling their resources to carry out the services for Roadways and Various Networks, in particular drainage, concrete block foundations and multitubular networks.
In line with its commitment to respecting the environment, the consortium will implement solutions designed to reduce the carbon footprint of its operations, in particular by using clear permeable coatings that use bio-sourced binders.
As the project is located in the heart of the Lyon metropolitan area, the consortium will pay particular attention to reducing and optimizing transport flows. Delivery requirements will be coordinated, and travel will be streamlined, ensuring that buses and soft modes of transport continue to operate throughout the duration of the works, thus preserving a satisfactory living environment for local residents, users and employees while guaranteeing their safety.
In addition, the establishment of a partnership with several reintegration companies (including the Maison de l'Emploi [job centre]) will enable a number of people in difficulty (the long-term unemployed, people in rehabilitation, etc.) to re-adapt to a working environment, for a total of 27,000 hours of work carried out.
"This contract testifies to the confidence SYTRAL Mobilités has placed in the Colas Group and illustrates our ability to combine operational challenges, environmental expertise and social responsibility", explains Pascal Trouf, Managing Director of Colas France Territoire Sud-Est.
