A variant solution for two sites: Compostyrène®
In the heart of the village of Olette (Pyrenees Orientales - 66) the THUIR branch proposed Compostyrene as a variant solution for a pedestrian access ramp originally planned as a slab supported on micropiles.
The work was carried out last May and imposes no extra load on the steep and potentially unstable existing embankment.
This construction technique was also well adapted to the difficult access conditions (blocks brought in by hand and shaped manually on site).
The RD 98 road leading to the Col d'Allos (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence) is being partly straightened. At the 55th kilometer the originally-planned soil nailing was replaced by a Compostyrene structure installed by COZZI.
This lightweight embankment incorporates a steep-slope (30%) drainage culvert. The facing comprises a metal frame suspended from the downstream beam, with CEDRAL weatherboard cladding for an esthetic finish.
