COLMAT AF in South France
In the context of the replacement of the wearing course of the A 570 where it passes through Hyères, the Colas Midi Méditerranée unit at La Seyne-sur-mer proposed a novel solution for the treatment of transverse cracking using a road base course composed of stabilized gravel with hydraulic binder (GTLH 0/20).
Since the pavement was subject only to slight deflection (≤ 10/100 mm) and possessed a homogeneous structure (successive maintenance with 0/10 asphalt concrete on GTLH), the Colas Est team applied, to an area of 17,000 sq. m.:
COLMAT AF, a cold-mix 0/6 fiber-reinforced bitumen to delay cracking.
RUGOFLEX TM 0/10 over a depth of 2.5 cm. Its high degree of roughness provides good surface drainage and makes it an excellent safety surface in urban areas.
